3 Steps To Take More Inspired Action And Create A Life That Feels Great
A couple of months ago I was on a hike with my friend Katie...
We were catching up after months of not seeing each other- chatting about our quarantine experience, businesses, relationships, etc.
Toward the end of our time together I put a bow on everything that I shared and said "you know if I had to sum up the biggest lesson I've learned/change I've made this year so far, it's taking more inspired action."...
To which she replied, "what's that??"
So I went on to paint the picture for her-
Here's an example:
You know those times you feel that low-grade anxiety or the nagging voice of "needing" to call someone that you haven't talked to in a while?
Maybe it's your mom. A best friend. Someone you haven't caught up with in months or even years.
So you finally reach out (to check it off your internal to-do list)...
But for some reason the conversation just doesn't feel easy or fun- it might be a little rushed. You might even hang up and not remember pieces of what you talked about.
Know what I mean?
But THEN!! But then there are those serendipitous times when you text or talk to someone without planning and it feels so good- so easy- in my experience, these are the conversations that make me feel even more connected.
So how does *inspired action* relate to this?
I like to think of inspired action as doing things in life that FEEL good vs. what I feel like I "should" do...
I've slowly implemented this in....well pretty much every area of my life-
Definitely my relationships. But also how I move my body. What I eat. How I start + end my day. Content that I consume. Even how I support my clients & how I run my business.
I'll be honest... Doing this felt a little scary at first.
Taking more inspired action required me to:
A). Trust myself more.
B). Let go of "shoulds" and redefine the balance of space & structure.
C). Tune into how I'm feeling more throughout the day (physically, mentally & emotionally).
But I can honestly say this- living with more inspired action has made life more FUN.
My relationships have deepened. My business has grown. My anxiety has decreased. I feel more comfortable in my own skin than ever before.
It takes ongoing practice, but if you're feeling like this is something that you want to try on in your own life, here's the best way to get started:
Before you do something, check in and ask yourself "what would FEEL good?".
Maybe you're used to writing in a morning journal, but waking up feeling like a walk outside would be nice. Give yourself permission to go for the walk and either let go of the journaling that day or see if it feels better later on.
Another tip: Those moments of inspiration? The nudges to reach out and call someone, stop into a store, cook something specific- don't ignore those ;) Say YES as often as possible when they come up vs. saving them for later.
