Feeling “Blah” In Your Life? Here Are 3 Habits To Help You Start Feeling Better

I’m feeling a little "blah". A phrase that I've been hearing a lot lately.

I woke up this morning with a little more pep in my step and started examining what was contributing to my feeling so good.

Of course, this evaluation is personal, but it’s also consistent with “feel good” themes I often see in my clients and myself. Enjoy!

1. SLEEP. If there's anything that will put you in a funk quickly it's a lack of routine. So building one AROUND quality sleep is essential. I'm sticking to my normal bedtime, waking up generally at the same time each morning and aiming for 7 hours of shut-eye. Honestly- this is like a little reassurance to your body and directly affects everything from your mood to how much you eat during the day.

2. SUN. I call this medicine for your mind. Again- build in a routine. It can be helpful to even set a reminder to go for a 10-30 min walk each day. I've been doing this first thing in the morning or around sunset depending on my mood.

3. MINDSET. We get to CHOOSE how we feel, based on the thoughts we have. It's important to acknowledge the real emotions and decide what you want to do with them. I use these 4 questions with clients a lot:

A. What are you thinking?

B. How is that thought making you feel?

C. What are other possible thoughts that you can create right now to feel a different way?

D. What do you need?

You are incredible. Having ‘blah’ days are certainly a part of life and a wonderful opportunity to invite in curiosity and self-compassion.
