3 Restrictions That Kept Me Feeling Controlled by Food

Some of the heaviest and lightest times in my body were running a ridiculous amount of miles every morning.

I’d get up at the crack of dawn- pump some Taylor Swift and count the calories on the little mind-numbing screen in front of me. (which aren’t even accurate btw)

And without fail, almost every single day…2 pm would roll around and I’d catch myself bingeing on everything from bags of baby carrots to 3-day old bagels and pretty much continue eating until bedtime….

I had little to no social life. I was stuck in a career that I didn’t really love because I was constantly thinking about food or how uncomfortable I was in my body. And my hobbies included going to the gym, and the supermarket, and looking up low-calorie recipes.

Let me give you a snapshot of what the problem was. 3 missing links that I wish I had known back then.

1. Primal Hunger. We can’t outsmart our bodies- and when we don’t give them what they need, they literally rear up and snap back like a rubber band. In this case (and something I see all the time with clients) under eating/restricting and ending up in a binge.

2. Rebellious Thinking. You totally know this- that little voice hanging out in the back of your mind. When something stressful pops up you say "screw it I’m eating the entire bag- I’ll work out longer tomorrow".

3. Emotional Disconnect. Every time something stressful set me off during the day, the only coping tool that I had in my kit was food. I spent most of my career not even realizing that I was suffering from anxiety while stuffing my face with cookies.

I know that you might think that ending binge eating it’s just a matter of finding the "perfect meal plan" or spending even more time at your spin class.

But until you’re clear on what YOUR body needs physically, mentally, and emotionally, there’s a good chance you’re going to keep falling back into the cycle.

If you’re ready to get to the root of your binges, you’ve got to look at where you’re restricting first.

I break the 4 areas of your life to begin examing so that you can start healing- it’s all in my Binge Eating Solution Sheet. Download it here for free. I’ll be cheering you on!
